2 Hogwarts School Reference Books

On March 12, 2001, two small and very special books were released worldwide. Harry Potter fans of all ages have been delighted to learn more about two topics that have generated a lot of questions : Quidditch and Fantastic Beasts. The two slim paperback books purport to be facsimiles of books used by Harry Potter and the other students at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry ...
J.K Rowling does such a good job of establishing the reality of Harry Potter's Wondrous World to the smallest detail that it is easy to accept these books as accurate and realistic in their content :)

Each have been written by an expert in the topic : Qidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander which can be found in just about every household in magic's world that practices wizardry. These books are mostly designed for those who have read one or more of J.K Rowling's books : Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ...

When I bought the books, I thought it would be the greatest way to feel like a student of Hogwarts because they were written by the One who imagined Hogwarts. How surprised was I when I saw handwritting in them. I couldn't giggle like an idiot because those handwritting meant too much. My favorite characters were not only characters, they were as real ! They had handwritting ! I was so glad the day I finished to read the books and realized I knew more stuff about Harry Potter Wondrous World. Now, I would just like to see the famous History of Hogwarts ... But that's another book and so, another story ,)

A last word, but not the least : when J.K Rowling wrote those 2 books, it was for a great cause. All proceeds are donated to Comic Relief, one of Britain's most well-known charities. The money will be used to help fund projects to benefit needy children around the world. So, don't hesitate to buy them :) They are fun, they are great, they are magic ...

Quidditch through the Ages
( by Kennilworthy Whisp )

Published in 2001 in Muggle world and illustrated by J.K Rowling, this books has been originally published in 1952 by Whizz Hard Books, Diagon Alley, London, and written by Kennilworthy Whisp, a renowned Quidditch expert.

- This book is designed to look like a Hogwarts Library book.
- This book is a facsimile of an original Hogwarts Library book.
- This book is mentioned in several Harry Potter Books.

The book traces the history of Quidditch, as well as the earliest broom-based games. According to Madam Pince ( the librarian at Hogwarts, very strict and ss highly suspicious of students that she places nasty spells on books to make sure they're returned on time ), the copy in the Hogwarts Library is "pawed about, dribbled on, and generally maltreated" nearly everyday, which Albus Dumbledore says is a high praise for any book. Harry Potter enjoyed this book. When Severus Snape caught Harry outside the school with this book in : Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, he invented the rule that no Hogwarts Library books were allowed outside the school, and took it. Harry didn't get the book back, and it hasn't been seen since ...

Kennilworthy Whisp has organized the book in chronological order, from the ninth century to the present day. The book is 56 pages long. It has ten chapters :

- The Evolution of the Flying Broomstick
- Ancient Broom Games
- The Game From Queerditch Marsh
- The Arrival of the Golden Snitch
- Anti-Muggle Precautions
- Changes in Quidditch Since the Fourteenth Century
- Quadditch Teams of Britain and Ireland
- The Spread of Quidditch Worldwide
- The Development of the Racing Broom
- Quidditch Today

This book is really great ... Each time I read it, I surprise myself to image all tournaments. Past and future !

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
( by Newt Scamander )

Published in 2001 in Muggle world and illustrated by J.K Rowling, this books has been originally published in 1927 by Obscurus Books, 18a Diagon Alley, London, and written by the famous magizoologist Newton Artemis Fido Scamander ( Order of Merlin, Second Class ) :)

- This book is mentioned as one required to purchase for studies at Hogwarts.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them contains the history of Magizoology and describes 75 magical species found around the world. Most of the information found in the book was collected by Newt Scamander through observations made over years of travel and across five continents ... Each description contains a Ministry of Magic (M.O.M) classification, ranging from "X" for "Boring" to "XXXXX" for "Known wizard killer / impossible to train or domesticate" ! Harry Potter has added the following description to the "XXXXX" classification, "or anything Hagrid likes" ... Each entry also contains a physical description of the creature, where it can be found, and information about its relationship with wizards. The listings are in alphabetical order. Footnotes provide additional information. The book is a required textbook for First Year Hogwarts students, having been an approved textbook since its first publication. It is not clear why students need it in their First Year, as students don't take Care of Magical Creatures until their Third Year. However, it may be used as an encyclopedia to Dark creatures studied in Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. In his introduction to the book, Albus Dumbledore notes that it serves as an excellent reference for wizarding households in addition to its use at Hogwarts. :)

Even I really enjoy equally the 2 books, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the one I read the most ... Because I love so much the idea to read one of the Hogwarts required School Book !
